BRITTANY WESTBROOK
DRESSED IN THE DARK

“Fashions fade, style is eternal” - Yves Saint Laurent
When I design, I think about women. I think about their shape, about their lives,
what they do every day. What they look for in themselves and what they look for
when they are trying on clothes. When I started this line, I knew I wanted something
chic, the most important aspect was tailoring and how it would fit a woman’s body. I
wanted shapes that would flatter, but also transform. I featured nipped in waists, with
flared hips to give the illusion of an hourglass shape, to accentuate a woman’s curves.
After fit, I wanted something practical, staple pieces that every woman should have
in her closet. These are dresses that could easily transition from work to after hours
with the drop of a hat. I choose an affordable crepe fabric, that would be washable
without damaging and pressed wonderfully, while not compromising having a
luxurious texture. I choose facings instead of lining, to help keep costs down and
make them more accessible.
I created these for everyday women to feel their best in their everyday lives, and
giving them the opportunity to keep their style eternal.
